Cook the fettuccine in boiling salted water until al dente. Drain and keep some pasta water.

In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and butter over medium heat until the butter melts.

Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is creamy and smooth.

Season with salt, white pepper, and a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg, if desired.

Toss the cooked fettuccine in the Alfredo sauce, adding pasta water as needed to reach your desired consistency.

Serve with additional Parmesan on top.
